Awesome Hotel! Friendly staff, welcoming environment. The manager Naid took care of all our needs as he was very professional and courteous. The pub restaurant had delicious food and very prompt. Overall I rate this stay a 10 out of 10. I would definitely return to Crown London Hotel.

Shame to see the obvious lack of investment and interest in this historic place. Staff seemed to be expected to manage the bar, restaurant at the same time. No one seemed to know what they were doing including the manager. Food was delicious when it did eventually come but service was awful. Overcharged for incorrect wine and when pointed out to bar staff/ waitress she seemed totally unfamiliar with all types of wine. Went to the bar asked for a glass of pinot grigio...had none so asked for sauvignon blanc....had none. Another guest beside me asked for brandy and ginger ale...had no ginger ale. Bar seemed very sparsely stocked. Would give the impression of a hotel amid taker over . Asked by bar staff to take drinks from bar to lobby as bar closing at 10.30 must be a record for a hotel!! All in all a very disappointing experience. Only thing going for it is the location as it is walking distance to train station. Rang down to reception on first night to see if we could have an extra pillow...no reply. My daughter walked down and asked and was told it would be brought to our room in about 15 minutes. Pillow never came. No hairdryer in the room. Only plus was comfy bed and quiet room. Would have raised complaints on checkout but no staff to be found so left the key in self checkout and left feeling very surprised that the owners are clearly not invested in the successful running of what could be a great hotel. Has everything except direction and good management from what I experienced.

My partner and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights (Friday and Saturday) and to say we were terribly disappointed from check-in to check-out is an understatement. I received an email from the hotel on Wednesday prior to checking in with offers to upgrade our stay. I chose to take the offer for “Early Check-In” which would entitle us to check in at 12 midday. On arrival we were informed there would be no early check-in until after 2pm which was fine but why send an email with that offer if they weren’t honouring it?? We checked in at 3:18 and I gave a card payment for our stay. We were given room 046. Whilst walking to our room we were totally disgusted by the smell on the corridor and the filthy dirty carpet that hadn’t been hoovered in at least a few days. The carpet looks to be ate away in lots of places from what is very possible to be wood lice. We got to our room and were also disgusted by the dirt with lots of stains in the carpet and dust on lights etc. The bathroom had some black mould too and she shower curtain was way too long that we had no choice but to step on the material whilst having showers. We couldn’t have baths as the “stopper” was way too small for the outlet! Moving on from the dirt… we decided we would take a rest in the room for awhile after checking in but unfortunately we weren’t long asleep when we were woken up by a stranger in our room that was also given a key card for Room 046. We were totally shocked to be woken up to find this stranger looking at us and she was really embarrassed too! When we came down stairs we were going to eat in the hotel restaurant but were advised from other guests not to have food there as the food was cold and wasn’t nice. Moving on to Saturday night… we had a drink at the hotel bar before going down the street for food. On returning to the hotel after having food we went to the bar for another drink to hear the bar maid shout across at us and tell us the bar was closed. This was at 10:45 and we were informed that the bar doesn’t close until 11:00. We said this to the bar maid and she continued with her very ignorant behaviour by saying she didn’t care and she wanted to go home. We complained at reception and the receptionist got the manager. I cannot speak highly enough about this manager as he was very friendly and understanding about our frustration. Although we had no issue paying for a drink, he kindly allowed us to have a drink from the bar and offered 50% reduction on the price of the drink. When he brought us across to the bar for our drink, the bar maid took her ignorance to another level by slamming the drinks on the bar in front of us. We had asked for “Coke” but she gave us “Diet Coke” and she refused to change it as she thought we were getting the drink at no charge. Absolutely no respect for the customers!! Moving on to Sunday morning (day of check out)… I discovered that I had been charged a second time for my room. I went to reception to inform the man that there was a mistake by charging me twice. The man on reception looked at the computer and tried to make me believe that this definitely didn’t happen. I showed proof of this to him so he decided to get the lady manager. She also tried to make me believe that this didn’t happen but I wasn’t leaving until this matter was resolved. She asked the man to check the card payment receipts and sure enough there the receipt was for the card payment I gave to the hotel on arrival. I was asked to give her 15 minutes to investigate this matter further to which I did without any hesitation. On return to reception I was informed that the card payment I gave on arrival was assigned to another woman who was staying there with the same Surname as mine (not related). This is totally unacceptable in my books! It also happened to be the same woman that walked in to our room on Friday!!! The manager gave me a refund but didn’t give any sort of an apology on behalf of the hotel for the mistake. I have stayed at this hotel in the past and was very happy with everything, hence the reason why I returned but I can very confidently say that I will never stay there again as the standards have fallen so much in every aspect. I will also never recommend this hotel to anybody else either! Please see some pictures of the disgraceful conditions this “4 star” hotel is in. I wouldn’t give it 1 star!!

Currently staying in The Crown Cricklewood for the Galway v London match. Far from a 4 star hotel anymore, filthy dirty and a nasty smell around corridors, rooms very basic and poor facilities, shower broken, Saturday night and went to the bar at 10:45pm to get a drink and a young barmaid with no manners or cop on shouts across the bar - “finished serving” - although website says serving until 11pm. Never returning to stay here.
